THE SCOURGE OF COVID 19

Behold a sudden stroke of fever that falls on us!
Then, our body becomes hazy, drowsy and suddenly feeble!
Too weak to move us round about our huts.
It comes like our land is accursed overnight. Alas!                                     6
What a catastrophe which comes like the Armageddon?
I behold the globe as it shivers in fear and dismay.

And when our sneezes and coughs fall on others’
Eyes, and perhaps their nostrils and mouths,
They become infected and thus vectors to others!
Our mouths begin to fail us,                                                            13
Our eyes become too dim to lead us,
And our noses become unconscious at breath.
Then it dawns on us! Life would be sniffing out of us soon!

Wind unfettered, atmospheric weather that is wild!
Then, our throats become nasty with venom from its fluid!
Our tongues become dead, our hearts become rust
O! What a season unkind against mankind?                                              20
Doctors flee in despair and our souls tremble like rock!
Our eyes could witness as death do us! O!
What a pandemic! What a plague that ruptures our organs!

Lung is long rotten! Liver is long ruptured!
Cells are denatured-too weak to keep alive!
Our intestine is long decayed by covid-19
As called the mighty virus!
O! Who has unchained destruction on us!                                                  29
It meanders like water, penetrates like parasite!
It flies! It burns like fire! It kills like acid!
O! What a season unkind against mankind?
Who indeed has unchained destruction on us!

Alas! The globe is doomed!
Behold caskets, many on earth like dust
 In procession to the soil
It spells no man as it is unbiased!
O yes! Corona virus is pandemic!
It puffs hunger and strife!
It bemoans-it restricts, it rules,
As every man is held captive!
Our homes, streets and cities have gone on strike!
Legs cribbed in isolation! Hunger torments like cancer,                            42
Frustration lingers like ghosts-boredom bites like lice,
We are maimed by silence! Lonely like prisoners!
O! Who indeed has unchained destruction on us?

This virus is worse than vampires!
Heartless than ghouls! As heinous as crime-
O! What a season unkind against mankind?
Behold caskets in procession to the soil!
Who saves us? Who prays for us?-
Prayer houses sent to quicky slumber!
Our mouths are sent on strike!
No one moves! None creeps!
We see swords do us harm! They swoop on us                                           58
Sometimes worse than corona virus!
Our nights are restless, our days are dreary!
O! Who saves us? Who prays for us in this
Moment of agony and strife?
Despair and dejection, gnash and moan?
Famine, endless brood and boredom?
And a moment of massacre!
O! Who indeed has unchained destruction on us?
